The demo build has Chris, Jill, Jack Krauser and Hunk available to play, and two maps: “Public Assembly” (Resident Evil 5) and “Village” (Resident Evil 4). I chose Hunk (a personal favorite) and tossed him into Public Assembly. Hunk comes equipped with a pistol, AK-47, grenade launcher, Flash Grenade, ammo and First Aid Spray, making him a very formidable target for enemies. For anybody who played ‘The Mercenaries’ mode in Resident Evil 4 or Resident Evil 5, it remains the same: rack up as high a score as possible within the time limit by killing enemies....

The preview launch of the first Spartan Ops episode of Halo 4 has really paced the nerves of gamers who are now looking forward to the new edition. Halo Waypoint has released a suitable Interactive guide for the game as well… The keyword is buzz. And with the hopes pinned with Halo 4, the stakes are even higher. But 343 Industries has managed to always deliver each promise with a bang....

Gearbox president Randy Pitchford explained to Eurogamer that the studio not only has reasons for their launch platforms, but have their fans’ best interests at heart. While console manufacturers and their subsidiary studios may promote the notion that the previous consoles are already old news, Pitchford explained that whether old or new, they’re the systems that their existing fans all have in their homes: Pitchford raises an important point that tends to be overlooked in the wave of enthusiasm and marketing that accompanies any new hardware launch....

Borderlands 2 released in September 2012 and gamers seemed rather fond of it. Since then, quite a bevy of (elaborately named) DLC has come about, including Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty, Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt, and some other less in-depth chunks. Gearbox even turned out two whole “seasons” of a webseries based off of the babbling Claptrap, the one-wheeled companion robot who never shuts up....

Gears 5 will be released on 10 September on Xbox One and Windows. We tried it on console at the Xbox Preview event but, interestingly, playing in Windows will also support split-screen if you’re not playing over the internet. This is a feature normally left out on PC so it’s nice to see here. Escape is a three-player co-op mode within Gears 5. There are just three characters to choose from, each with their own attributes, but more importantly ultimate moves....

The costs to gamers for the Gears of War 3 DLC, should they choose to purchase it, reached a bit of a fever pitch over the weekend when we and other media outlets started talking about the weapon skin micro-transactions we found in-game. Gears of War 3 Director Rod Fergusson explained what these are all about and more importantly, how much they will cost. There are 7 sets of weapon skins that come with the game and each set represents that skin for all five weapons (lancer, retro lancer, hammerburst, shotgun and sawed-off shotgun)....

Beginning on Thursday, the event opens up with panels for Dead Rising 2, Halo: Reach, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and a panel detailing Capcom’s plans for the rest of the year. Hopefully we’ll find out about Capcom Vs. Namco. On top of new details for these previously announced games, we’ll also get our first glimpse of 38 Studios’ Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning. Todd McFarlane is acting as executive art director on the game....

Instead of relying on the outcome of the upcoming Spike VGAs, which in 2005 nominated 50 Cent: Bulletproof and Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game for awards, Game Rant has decided to put together a list of our nominations, along with a bit of commentary, for our Game of the Year choices. One Packers player hurled himself toward the ball as it left Dawson's foot, but it shot right between his outstretched arms. However, by posting a picture of each of the four realities’ version of Cosmic Spider-Man (above), GameStop inadvertently revealed that one of the realities will be Marvel 2099, evidenced by the 2099-esque spikes protruding from Spidey #4’s wrists. Because of the coloring of the leftover costume, some have speculated that the fourth reality will have something to do with the symbiotes. Thankfully, before GameStop took down the picture, a savvy nerd nabbed it....

There are a number of games out there today that many view as controversial. One game in particular has gained an unprecedented amount of attention for the repulsiveness of its subject matter: RapeLay. A game from Japan, RapeLay casts players as a sexual deviant who attempts to rape a teenaged passenger on a commuter train. The player does eventually rape the passenger, the passenger’s Mother, and younger Sister. Ultimately, the victims can be forced to get abortions, after which they commit suicide....

Overwatch 2 is a free-to-play game, and as such, is digital-only. The original Overwatch was a premium boxed product. Even though Overwatch 1 is six years old at this point, retailers still carry copies of the game, especially video game retailer GameStop, since it sells used copies of older titles. Sony first launched its PlayStation 5 console in November 2020. Even though it’s been nearly two years since the PlayStation 5’s launch, the console is still incredibly difficult to find. The COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain issues, chip shortages, scalpers, bots buying up online stock, and more problems have made it virtually impossible for many to get their hands on a PS5. However, there will reportedly be some PS5 bundles available at GameStop this coming Friday, June 24....

In an earnings call, GameStop CEO George Sherman said that the retailer has begun to “wind down” its business in the Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Norway. A date for all of these store closures wasn’t given, but GameStop CFO Jim Bell said that the company expects the closures to have been completed by the end of 2020. The closures of these Nordic GameStop stores will take “several months to complete,” said Sherman, but that it would add around $15 million to GameStop’s bottom line....

The crucible was a 40-person raid on the dungeonlike Core. After brief instruction from our team leaders, we engaged horrible giant beetles called Molten Giants. In the fog of war, it was hard to tell what was going on, what with the battering, the stabbing, the spell casting and the healing. We killed the Molten Giants–though more showed up, as well as Core Hounds and other beasts. Then it was time for dinner, so I said goodbye and logged off....
