The information comes by way of GameStop’s senior director of merchandising, Eric Bright, who spoke with Game Rant a couple weeks ago about the high demand for the new Nintendo console. Concerning the incoming Nintendo Switch units, Bright said:
With demand remaining high for the Nintendo Switch, it won’t be surprising to see Nintendo reach its sales goal of two million units sold by the end of the month. In fact, GameStop previously called the Nintendo Switch the “strongest console launch in years”, so if Nintendo doesn’t reach its goal, it will be because of the limited quantities available at launch.
Those who are able to obtain a Nintendo Switch with the stock influx at GameStop will want to be aware of the current issues that can occur with the system. While at least one Switch owner has experienced a “blue screen of death,” the more prevalent problem for gamers has been a sync issue with the left Joy-Con controller.
Nintendo has tried to keep owners aware of how these issues with the controller can happen, but they are no less troubling for a brand new console. At some point, one has to assume a hardware revision will hit the pipeline, but it’s unlikely this latest GameStop restock includes any major changes.
Despite those issues, though, the Nintendo Switch has been a huge hit and will continue to see high demand in the coming weeks and months. With the highly-praised The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild bolstering its launch lineup, gamers are clamoring for any available Nintendo Switch consoles, and that’s despite the fact Zelda is also available on the Wii U. Those planning to pick one up from GameStop will want to work quickly since the new stock won’t last long.
