However, beyond that, there are really no similarities between the two franchises. One is a third-person action RPG set in a fantasy world, while the other is a third-person cover shooter in a sci-fi world. Both have their fans, but The Witcher and Gears of War’s differences are like night and day, making a recent discovery by a fan somewhat mind-boggling.

Redditor GlenMcCallum recently shared a discovery from a Bulgarian toy store, where the box depicts an unusual Witcher and Gears of War crossover. It would appear that the toy was supposed to feature a Gears of War character, as it is their armor, but the entire head is replaced by Geralt’s. The light hitting the box also proves that this is not a photoshopped image, or if it were, it’s a really good photoshop. Obviously, there was some photo editing to put Geralt’s head on a Gears character’s body, but the discovery itself appears genuine.

The weapon Geralt is holding is neither from The Witcher universe, nor the Gears of War universe. Instead, it’s likely that this displays the brand of sorts associated with the toy weapon. Many fans have had a lot of fun with the idea that this is a Gears of War version of Geralt holding a weapon named “Super Buttle Gun.” Of course, while the exact circumstances of this toy weapon are unknown, many had a field day mixing and matching The Witcher and Gears of War. Hilarious comments include “Gears of Rivia,” “Geralt of War,” “Geralt Fenix” and instead of Witcher Schools, there’s the “Gears of Witchers.”

There are plenty of unique and interesting discoveries made like this all the time in the gaming community, such as one Skyrim fan who found a Daedric Dagger Replica in a thrift store. Circumstances change, of course, and that was likely some fans’ personal project, while this toy appears to be some sort of bootleg, cross-over gone wrong (in the best of ways).

Either way, hopefully, fans will learn a little something about each of these franchises sometime in the near future. Beyond the aforementioned remasters and next-gen upgrades, fans know that a new Witcher game is in development and the Coalition will presumably continue with Gears 5 at some point.
