Epic recently announced that Unreal Engine 3 will support the NGP and titles such as Infinity Blade and the Mass Effect trilogy use the engine as well. Now, Gameloft is joining the party.

Gameloft has announced a two-year licensing agreement with Epic Games to use Unreal Engine 3 to develop four titles. The titles have yet to be revealed, but the plan is to release two this year and two in 2012. It was revealed, however, that the titles will be developed for multiple platforms: iOS, Android, and the PlayStation Network.

Julien Fournials, vice president of production for Gameloft, explains their choice in Unreal Engine 3 and echoes their excitement:

Additionally, vice president of Epic Games, Mark Rein, fully supports the Gameloft licensed partnership and assures they will benefit from the use of their engine:

It has not been clarified if the titles will be brand new IPs or if Gameloft will use the engine to build sequels to some of their lineup. If they are building a sequel, Dungeon Hunter 3 would be a great candidate to be built using Unreal Engine 3. A classic dungeon crawler with enhanced textures and stronger visuals could make for a strong successor. It would be nice, however, to see some new ideas come out of the collaboration as well.
