First off, Days Gone 2 was pitched but ultimately rejected by Sony after the first game’s tumultuous development cycle. The studio has reportedly been moved to work on a new game in an unannounced series, but fans seem to be a bit troubled by the news. It’s evidence that PlayStation is changing, though, for better or for worse.

That’s not all, though. The same report that detailed the Days Gone 2 pitch also revealed that a remake of The Last of Us is in the works. Fans have been apprehensive about the rumored remake, as it seems like Naughty Dog’s talents would be better used elsewhere. Cameron and Anthony seem to agree, especially because the game received a remaster just a few years ago.
Rounding out the PlayStation news, the company is rumored to be working on a “counterpunch” to Xbox Game Pass, according to David Scott Jaffe. It’s not clear what that would look like or when it would release, but it seems like a key component if Sony wants to stay competitive with Xbox.
Outside of the PlayStation world, Nintendo will start focusing on new IP, while still delivering new games for some of its greatest hit franchises. And finally, the next BioShock game might be open-world, which would be a huge change for the franchise.
